Kasaragod: Body found at Adoor identified - Murder suspected

Kasaragod, Aug 16: A body that was recovered from a two-storied house under construction at Irunja near Adoor has been identified to be of Paramel Abdul Latif (45), from Kurkoor Otukarapuram within the limits of Kalpakamcheri police station in Malappuram district.

The police say that there is suspicion that this could be a case of murder. Therefore, the mortal remains, which were found decomposed, were shifted to Pariyaram Medical College Hospital for postmortem.

The mortal remains of a man were found lying in the first floor in an under-construction house at Irunja on the morning of Tuesday August 13. The police, during their verification, found an Adhar card and identity card on the body. The police who checked with Kalpakamcheri police have got confirmation that the body belongs to Latif.

Abdul Latif was working as daily deposit collector for Valavannur Service Cooperative Bank. He had left home on August 7 for work but was not seen thereafter. His family members, after searching for Latif for long, had filed missing complaint on August 8.

The body and neck portion of the body bore the marks created by the tightening of nylon rope. In addition to identity card and mobile phone in the shirt pocket of the deceased, a pair of footwear and toothpaste were found by the side. Rs 25,000 in cash was also found from the shirt pocket.

The police are now investigating the cellphone call of Abdul Latif with the support of cyber cell of the department.
