Bengaluru, Oct 24: Former Minister and Congress party’s trouble shooter D K Shivakumar, who was released from Tihar Jail last night after the Delhi High Court granted him bail in the disproportionate assets case, visited the AICC office in New Delhi on Thursday.

Shivakumar, who was freed after spending 50 days in jail, called on AICC President Sonia Gandhi and former president Rahul Gandhi.

``It was a courtesy call. No politics was discussed,’’ he told reporters after coming out of the AICC office.

He also called on his lawyers who argued his case in the alleged money laundering case filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and obtained bail.

Congress MP and Shivakumar’s brother D K Suresh was also present.

The seven-time Congress MLA met AICC General Secretary in-charge of Karnataka K C Venugopal at the party’s headquarters, and discussed political developments. Venugopal later tweeted that ``It was a moment of joy when Shri@DKShivakumar visited me today.

BJP’s vendetta politics can never defeat us in our fight to save democracy.”’

The Congress strongman in the State said he would meet also those people who had supported him during his arrest and even staged demonstrations in his constituency and Bengaluru.

Leaders cutting across political parties have extended support for him, he said.  Shivakumar is likely to stay in Delhi on Friday and return to Bengaluru on Saturday.
