Mangaluru, Oct 26: "When a doctor exercises patience and allows his patient to explain in detail his health problems, the doctor's behaviour acts as the initial medicine for the ailments of the patient concerned. If the medical students acquire patience during their academic life, they can taste success in professional life," opined Sri Vishwapriyateertha Swamiji of Admar Math, Udupi.

He was delivering a benedictory address after inaugurating Sharada Ayurvedic Medical College and Sharada Yoga and Naturopathy Medical College at Sharada Ayurdhama Campus, Talapady Devinagara, on Friday October 25. These institutions happen to be covered under the Sharada group of educational institutions promoted by Tulunadu
Education Trust, Kodialbail, Mangaluru.

"The people have of late lost the quality of being patient. Whenever we suffer from diseases, instead of searching for cure from herbs and medicinal plants that are naturally available in our surroundings, we resort to allopathic medical practitioners and expose ourselves to different tablets prescribed by them. Instead of going on increasing the intake of tablets for more and more diseases with passage of time, we can lead a healthy life if we exercise patience and choose to get treated under Ayurvedic system of treatment," he advised.

The Swamiji observed that allopathic system of treatment does not lay stress on the study of language. He pointed out that in Ayurveda system, study of language is given importance. "Ayurveda has developed alongside Sanskrit. The Vedic Mantras associated with Ayurveda supplement the healing system of Ayurveda medicines. Our pulses vibe to chanting of Sanskrit hymns," he opined.

The Swamiji, striking a comparision between Ayurveda and allopathy systems, termed Ayurveda treatment as the arrow shot by Lords Rama which only hits the target without harming others. He compared allopathy treatment to the cars of ministers which create multifarious problems for the road users on the way. While allopathic medicines give rise to severe side affects, Ayurvedic medicines support general health, he insisted.

Nitte University chancellor, Dr N Vinay Hegde, who presided over the function, expressed the view that education, in addition to helping the candidates to get admitted into institutions and acquiring degrees, should also be fruits of hard work. "The education one gets is of real value only when those who practice it have total faith in what they do. At the same time, the concerned should keep enriching their knowledge and education all through their lives," he opined.

Mangaluru MLA, U T Khader, said that Yoga, Ayurveda and naturopathy happen to be invaluable gifts given to mankind by Indian seers and sages. He wished that researches on Ayurveda, Yoga and naturopathy will be conducted in this educational institution.

Mangesh Bende, All India Vyavastha Pramukh of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, wished that Sharada educational institutions do not limit themselves to giving away degrees. He hoped that Sharada institutions will pave the way for setting up research centres and provide answers to health-related challenges facing the world.

Karnataka Bank general manager, Nagaraj Rao B, former MLC, Capt Ganesh Karnik and veteran RSS leader, Dr P V Shenoy, participated as chief guests.

Trustee of Sharada Educational Institutions, Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, H Seetharam Acharya, Dr Seetharam Bhat Dandateertha and Sudhakar Rao Pejawar were present.

Sharada Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospital principal and chief medical officer, Dr Raviganesh Mogra, welcomed the gathering. President of Sharada Group of Educational Institutions, M B Puranik, delivered the introductory address. Vice-principal of Sharada Vidyalaya, Dayanand Kateel and administrative officer of Sharada Vidyaniketan, Vivek Tantri, compered the programme. Sharada Yoga and Naturopathy Medical College and Hospital principal and chief health officer, Dr Rajesh Padekal, proposed the vote of thanks.
