Beltangady: Theft from Bachakere temple - Thief identified with CCTV help

Beltangady, Oct 26: A thief entered Bachakere Goddess Durgaparameshwari temple near Sarapady and took away money from the donation box of the temple. The theft happened on the night of Thursday October 24.

The thief was identified as Mustafa from Kuntalpalke with the help of CCTV cameras installed in the temple.

As per the CCTV recording, the accused jumped over the temple gate at around midnight, used a machete he was holding to break open the lock of a donation box and take away money found inside. He also tried to break another donation box but found it impossible.

The CCTV cameras of the temple have recorded the accused arriving at the temple through the road, breaking of the donation box and returning with the money. A case in this respect was registered by Bantwal rural police on the basis of complaint lodged by Sundar Bachakere.

The police went to the residence of the accused to arrest him on Friday morning but could not find him there, it is learnt.
