Mysuru, Oct 28: Even as the results of the assembly elections of Maharashtra and Haryana were published, and the Congress started breathing easy taking satisfaction from the additional seats it won as compared to the previous one, it suffered a jolt in the home state. C H Vijayashankar, a former BJP MP from Mysuru, who remained a close aide of former chief minister, Siddaramaiah, has leaned towards the BJP again.

Vijayashankar is learnt to have disclosed to his close ones about his decision to cross over to the BJP. As per reports, state chief minister, B S Yediyurappa, has given his nod for re-admitting Siddaramaiah into the BJP.

After Vijayashankar was defeated in the parliamentary election, the Congress had not given him importance. He had slowly distanced himself from both Siddaramaiah and the Congress. Now he has decided to join the BJP along with his supporters. Some sources expect this to happen before the assembly bypoll.

It may be recalled that Vijayashankar had joined the BJP and become minister in Yediyurappa government in 1991. He had left the BJP and joined the Congress about two years back.
