Udupi, Oct 29: State Election Commission has directed to hold by elections and announced elections time table for various seats remaining vacant in Udupi district.

Elections will be held for one seat for fourth Barkur constituency of Barkur taluk panchayat, one seat of Billadi gram panchayat, Brahmavar taluk, one seat of Katpadi gram panchayat in Kaup taluk, one seat of Mundkoor gram panchayat, Karkal taluk and three seats of Kalya gram panchayat.

The seat for Barkur taluk constituency is reserved for backward class ‘Ba’ candidate. The seat for Katpadi gram panchayat Yenagudde is reserved for backward class ‘Aa’ woman. The seat for Billadi one constituency, of Billadi gram panchayat is reserved for backward class ‘Ba’ category. The seat for Mulladka, Mundkoor gram pachayat is reserved for ‘Aa” category, Kalya- 3 seats of Kalya gram panchayat are reserved for backward class woman, backward class tribe and woman general category.

The nominations for taluk panchayat elections will be received in Brahmavar taluk Chantaru gram panchayat office auditorium and the nominations for gram panchayat will be received in gram panchayat office by election officer.

The nomination can be filed from October 28 till October 31. The nominations will be scrutinized on November 2. The last date for withdrawing them is November 4. Elections will be held on November 12 between 7 am and 5 pm. Votes will be counted on November 14.

Election code of conduct will be in force in Barkur, Katpadi, Billadi gram panchayat, Mundkoor gram panchayat and Kalya gram panchayat limits from October 28 till November 14.

“Taluk panchayat elections will be held through EVMs with provision for NOTA. Gram panchayat elections will be held in ballot boxes and there will be no provision for NOTA in them,” stated DC G Jagadeesha in a press release.
