Mangaluru, Oct 29: As preparation for the annual parish feast, the parishioners of Most Holy Redeemer Church, Derebail observed Confraternity Sunday on October 27.

The Eucharistic celebration commenced with Fr Joseph Martis celebrating the mass along with Fr Austin Peter Peres (parish priest) and Fr Gratian Alvares (resident). Fr Joseph Martis in his homily highlighted the significance of the day by stating how the participation of parishioners in the various events of the church led to its success.

After mass, a solemn procession bearing the holy Sacrament and various tableaux along with the parishioners set forth from the church premise to Konchady via Kuntikan and back to the church. The choir of Most Holy Redeemer Church sang hymns in praise of the Almighty. Hymns were sung in Konkani, English, Hindi and Kannada. The procession of parishioners clad in white and holding candles indeed sent across the message of peace and solidarity that the Catholic church believes and upholds. After the procession, a short prayer service was conducted by Fr Joseph Martis.

The entire celebration was brought to a closure with the parishioners dancing to the brass band. Refreshments were served to them. Indeed the Confraternity Sunday has set open the week of festivity.
