Udupi: PMKVY scheme aims to achieve 3,000 new registrations – MP Shobha Karandlaje

Udupi, Nov 5: “Pradhan Manthri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) center is aiming to achieve 3000 new registrations in one month to get skill development training programme. This three months training scheme is for school and college dropouts or unemployed, who are below 35 years of age,” said Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje.

Shobha was speaking at the press meet held at Town BJP office Kadiyali here on Monday, November 4. She further said, “The Pradhan Manthri Kaushal Vikas Center was opened in 2017-18. There was a target to make 700 registrations in the previous year. As many as 644 beneficiaries have got skill development training course under various fields, out of them, 12 failed and did not show much interest to write re-exam. One of the central government agency is conducting examination. As many as 632 trainees have got placement in their skilled field.

“The leading training providers Roman Technologies is providing skill training. There are 28 PMKVY centres in all Lok Sabha constituencies in Karnataka. It offers 25 plus courses in different fields. Out of 632 trainees, 227 were skilled in tailoring, 122 were skilled in beautician course, 188 were skilled in junior software, 120 got training in Domestic data entry operator and 57 underwent training in computer hardware.

“There is need to reach ground level to raise more awareness about this scheme. The PMKVY will reduce the migrating of young population to abroad in search of jobs.

“There is a fear of losing jobs in future and robots or machines will occupy the man power. As per the World Bank report, the proportion of jobs threatened by automation in India is 69% year on year.

“Around 65% of the Indian population is under 35 and the average age of India is considered as 28. India is the country of youth and they need to get skilled to contribute to the economic growth of country.

“According to Nasscom report, about 40% of India's total work force has to be reskilled over the next five years to cope with emerging trends and to match with industrial requirement.

“By next year, Chikkamagaluru will likely to get PMKVY center and Shobha ensured that she will send proposal to the Central government,” she said.

Raghavendra Rao, PMKVY center head, Shilpa Suvarna, Reshma Uday Kumar, Geethanjali Suvarna and Sheela K Shetty, vice president, zilla panchayat were present.
