Two More Swine Flu Deaths in Bangalore, Toll Three
Bangalore, Aug 15 (IANS): Two more deaths were reported from influenza A (H1N1) virus Saturday in Bangalore taking the toll in the city to three in past four days.
Shivanna, 55, died at Wockhardt Hospital in west Bangalore and Manjunath, 28, in Vydehi Medical Institute in east of the city Friday.
Manjunath, a weaver in Dommasandra on the outskirts of Bangalore, was admitted in a serious condition Aug 13, a Vydehi institute spokesperson said Saturday.
"He was put in the ICU (intensive care unit) and the same evening (Friday) his samples were sent to National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS)," she said.

"Majunath passed away Friday evening and the test results confirming H1N1 virus were received by us late Friday," the spokesperson said.
Shivanna, a resident of Rajajinagar in west Bangalore, was admitted to Wockhardt on Aug 12 with complaints of breathlessness.
"The next day his condition deteriorated and his test samples were sent to NIMHANS," hospital CEO Lloyd Nazareth told reporters.
Shivanna died Friday morning but the test reports reached late Friday, he said.
Reacting to the latest fatalities, Chief minister B. S. Yeddurappa said: "It is unfortunate that two more swine flu deaths have occurred in the city. As these deaths have taken place in private hospitals, we need to extend the facilities available in government hospitals to prevent further H1N1 deaths.
"We are monitoring the situation constantly to take suitable steps," Yeddurappa told reportes.
On Aug 12, Rupa Anand, a 26-year-old teacher, become the first victim of swine flu in Bangalore.
More than 20 people have been killed in the country due to swine flu in the past few weeks.
