Kaup, Feb 25: In an incident which happened at Kochabalike at Adve near Padubidri, which falls within the limits of Palimaru gram panchayat, two goats which were left to graze were devoured by a leopard. This incident happened on Monday February 24.

These goats belonged to Jainabi from Adve. She had allowed the goats to graze near her home. When she came back to lead the goats back to their shed, she found that both the goats were eaten up by a leopard. Fearful and devastated, Jainabi and other locals filed a complaint with the forest department.

Some locals swore that they had seen the leopard roaming around the area. It is said that it had also attacked and feasted on some local dogs. Taluk panchayat member, Dinesh Kotian Palimaru, has urged the forest department to disburse suitable compensation for the loss suffered by Jainabi.
