Mandya: Suspicion of murdering woman - Transgender beaten to death

Mandya, Feb 27: A transgender who allegedly had killed a woman was beaten to death by the villagers of Hagalahalli in Maddur taluk in the district on Wednesday February 26. The transgender who lost her life in the incident has been identified as Krishna from Hagalahalli.

The villagers believe that Krishna had killed Shobha, wife of Pape Gowda from the village. Shobha used to conduct financial dealings. Krishna had borrowed Rs 50,000 from Shobha, but had failed to repay the loan. Shobha had pressurized her to repay the loan with interest. Angered by this, Krishna arrived at Shobha's house on Wednesday. After verbal altercation, it is said, Shobha was murdered by immersing her in water.

It is said that Krishna was trying to run away from the village with the ornaments Shobha was wearing at the time of her murder, when the villagers caught hold of her. The villagers beat her up. The police said that Krishna, who had suffered serious injuries, breathed her last at a hospital later.
