Mangaluru, Apr 4: Among those who had recently been to Delhi, the corona infection of a 52-year-old Thokkottu resident is confirmed. Preparations to keep under quarantine the complex where he was staying and the junction are in progress. Residents have said that police personnel have warned them not to come out of their residences since morning on Saturday, April 4.
The person had gone to Nizamuddin from Mumbai on March 15 and reached Nizamuddin in the afternoon on March 16. He returned in Kerala Samparka Kranti train on the afternoon on March 18 and reached Thokkottu via Mangaluru on March 20. He later went for Namaz at Chembugudde mosque. He had also gone to ration shop at Marnamikatte on March 31 after declaration of lock down. Police confirmed through telephone from Ullal and Bunder police stations that he had been to Delhi. Ullal station police took him into custody through the health department and kept him in the private commercial complex in front of Yenepoya hospital. He was kept there on April 1st and April 2nd. His throat swab was sent to the laboratory. As the report confirmed that he is infected of the virus, he has been shifted to the Wenlock hospital.
Ullal police have been directed to quarantine in front of Thokkottu junction. Police personnel are obtaining the travel history of the infected person also from of his neighbours. “Even though police personnel have warned the complex residents not to come out, there was no such direction at the junction till late night,” said the residents.
