Bengaluru: CS asks districts to get 100 samples tested everyday

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Apr 18: Chief secretary (CS) of Karnataka, T M Vijay Bhaskar, through a letter dated April 17, asked districts where not a single COVID - 19 case has been reported so far, to collect a minimum of 100 medical samples from people having symptoms of Influenza Like Illness (ILI) and Severe Acute Respiratory Illness (SARI) everyday and get them tested through official COVID - 19 testing centres approved by the government. This has to be done on April 17, 18 and 19, he said.

The CS also drew the attention of these districts to the fact that even though the fact that no coronavirus cases were reported from their districts is satisfactory, some experts have opined that even though COVID - 19 symptoms are not apparent, in some cases, there are chances of the infection thriving.

He said that after the above dates, everyday, 50 such samples have to be collected and sent for COVID - 19 testing.

This letter was sent to deputy commissioners of Hassan, Shivamogga, Chamarajanagar, Haveri, Kolar, Chikkamagaluru, Yadgir, Raichur, Ramanagara and Koppal districts which do not have any coronavirus patients as of now.
