Kundapur: Illegal cattle trafficking - One held, vehicle seized

Kundapur, May 12: A team of policemen from the town intercepted a Tata Ace vehicle near Jattigeshwara temple in Kody village here on Monday, May 11. The team led by assistant sub-inspector Harish found that cattle were being illegally transported in the vehicle.

A cow and a calf found in the vehicle were rescued. The driver of the vehicle, identified as Pius D'Mello from Voderahobli village was arrested. The driver has been charged with illegally transporting the cattle in a violent manner.

The value of the cattle confiscated has been estimated at Rs 8,000 and that of the seized vehicle to be Rs 1 lac. Kundapur police, who have registered the case, are investigating.
