Madikeri: Coffee trader found dead under mysterious circumstances

Madikeri, May 13: A coffee trader was found dead under mysterious circumstances at Kushalnagar in the district on Tuesday, May 12.

He has been identified as Kallangada Poovappa alias Praveen (42), a native of Kakur village in Srimangala, Kodagu district.

Praveen had hired a house in Kuvempu Extension, Kushalnagar, three months back. He stayed alone. As he was not to be seen on Tuesday, his house owner went there to check and found that Praveen was lying in a pool of blood on the floor.

Kushalnagar town police, who registered a case, said that they were told by the house owner that unidentified persons had visited Praveen's residence at night in a car. The police along with fingerprint experts and sniffer dogs visited the spot and undertook scrutiny.

Deputy superintendent of police H M Shylendra, police circle inspector M Mahesh, Kushalnagar station house officer Ganesh, and others undertook the investigation. Kodagu superintendent of police D P Sumana also gathered information about the incident and guided investigation. A case was registered in Kushalnagar town station.
