Mangaluru: NSUI-DK vice president writes to MLA UT Khader over woes of online classes

Mangaluru, May 13: In a letter addressed to MLA UT Khader, vice president of the National Student's Union of India (NSUI), Dakshina Kannada, Anvith Kateel wrote about the problems being faced by students due to online classes.

In the letter Kateel mentioned that the online classes were proving to be problematic for several reasons, one of the reasons being a poor internet connection. Further, the letter also claimed that the students had trouble achieving clarity on a concept. In addition to this, several students did not own the appropriate gadgets required for virtual classes. Another issue that raises cause for concern is conducting online exams.

Highlighting prominent issues, Kateel requested the MLA to find an alternative solution for the problem and implement necessary measures as soon as possible.

Ever since the country had plunged into lockdown, one of the sectors to get hampered was the education sector. Educational institutions were then required to move onto the online platform to conduct classes with the hope to complete their syllabus. Meanwhile, a new method of imparting education seemed to have attracted some hostility.

    One of victims of Corona will be the aided and unaided Kannada schools in Karnataka and particularly in Mangalore. These schools were mostly working on the basis of the migrant Kannada students. With the migrants moving to their native places , these school be the first one to close as the student strength will not permit to operate these schools .

    Apart from this our internet spread is more to the middle class and upper class people staying in the medium and large cities. The rural people will not have access to proper internet facility to the problems with the electricity and also poor network connectivity. The students from rural areas will need to forego their education at least for a year as they will not be able to cope with the concepts being taught online and if the students are studying in Kannada medium , then their wows will be unimaginable
