Udupi: MLA K Raghupati Bhat holds discussion meeting over MESCOM bills

Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (EP)

Udupi, May 16: MLA K Raghupati Bhat held a meeting with MESCOM officials in MLA’s office on Saturday over confusion relating to fixed charges in the power bills between March 23 and May 1.

MESCOM officials clarified that the power bills for May are issued on the basis of average consumption between January and February. “Interest at the rate of one per cent is levied on customers who have not made payment within the stipulated period,” they said.

The amount should be adjusted in future bills in instances when the bills based on average consumption are more than the actual consumption,” said the MLA.

MESCOM superintending engineer Narsimha Pandit, executive engineer Dinesh Upadhya, senior accountant and assistant accounts officer were present.

Its absolutely false that MESCOM have billed for the months of March and April based on January and February. Our February bill was around 650rs. And this time it's 2500 rs for 2 months. MESCOM should introspect and stop misleading people.
