He presided over a review meeting on Covid-19 held at the district panchayat auditorium on Tuesday.

“Four ventilators by SBI and three ventilators by Infosys are supplied to convert Dr G Shanker hospital at Kundapur into a COVID hospital. It is decided to make it a fully-fledged hospital of 40 beds with oxygen connection,” he said.

“Fever clinics will be started in all the private hospitals and nursing homes in the district. All the patients should not be sent to government hospitals to check the fever. Though hospitals have been asked to report all the cases of ILI and Sari to the district administration, the information has not been received from some hospitals. Action will be taken against them.

“Health department staff are visiting the houses of those who are in home quarantine. Those with COVID symptoms will be admitted to the COVID hospital immediately so that nobody dies of the virus. Maximum people are recovering in the district and none have died in the district. A person who was infected died of a heart attack

“COVID patients are recovering soon in the district. The district administration congratulates the medical staff who work day and night to prevent deaths even though more than 1000 COVID cases are reported.

“The next two months are challenging as many more people will arrive from other states. Only people with COVID symptoms and special categories are being examined there. Therefore, all the medical officials should intensify surveillance, so that there are no deaths."

District Surgeon, Dr Madhusoodan Nayak, DHO, Dr Sudhir Chandra Sooda, district COVID-19 nodal officer, Dr Prashanth Bhat, health department officials and other department officials were present.

    Respected DC Sir.
just procuring the ventilator is not enough, who are going to operate them effectively ? Inappropriate ventilator settings and handling will harm more than good like some of the western world. How many intensivists are there in Udupi?
