Bengaluru: Usurping of Wakf property - CM seeks tabling of interim report

Bengaluru, Jun 17: Chief minister of Karnataka, B S Yediyurappa, has sought the interim report of the Lokayukta investigation into the swindling of Wakf properties as per a report prepared by the former chairman of Karnataka State Minorities Commission, Anwar Manipady.
 
He passed on this instruction when chairing a progress review meeting of the minorities welfare department and Wakf Board at his home office, 'Krishna', on Tuesday, June 16.
 
After Anwar Manipady prepared the report about embezzlement of Wakf properties in 2012, Lokayukta investigation was ordered. The Lokayukta has submitted an interim report. This report has been given approval by the cabinet and it will now be placed before the next session of the legislature.
 
Wakf and Haj minister Prabhu Chauhan, as well as textiles and minority welfare minister Shrimant Patil in addition to senior officials, were present. 
 
The Anwar Manipady report has alleged that 27,000 acres of Wakf property worth Rs 2.3 lac crore have been disposed of illegally.
