Udupi: Eye Camp Conducted at Mandarthi Temple

Udupi, Feb 13: Parivarthana Foundation, Shiroor Hosamane in association with Narayana Nethralaya, Bangalore and Sri Durgaparameshwari temple, Mandarthi organized an eye camp at Sri Durgaparameshwari temple premises here on Tuesday February 9 and Wednesday February 10.
 
The camp was held in memory of Shiroor Hosamane late Thungamma Duggappa. Dhananjay Shetty, managing trustee, Sri Durgaparameshwari temple inaugurated the camp.


 

Over 1,562 students benefited from the camp. The students of 20 primary schools and high schools in and around Heggunje, Billadi gram panchayat limits of Udupi district took part in the camp. Apart from students, 200 locals also benefited from the camp.

“Narayana Nethralaya has been organizing such eye camps in rural areas for the last few years. Owing to the vitamin A deficiency, children suffer from eye disorder. Ocular surface disorder, genetically transmitted diseases, cataract, retina related problems, cornea problems and eye cancer among other problems are treated in the camp. Apart from this, free spectacles are also distributed free of cost to the students.” informed vice-president of Narayan Nethralaya and eye specialist Dr Rohith Shetty.

Parivarthana Foundation president T Shivaram Shetty, secretary S Gopala Krishna Nayak, Bharathiya Vikasa managing director K M Udupa, trustees S Narasimhanayak, K S Seetharam Shetty, Narayana Nethralaya eye specialists Dr Narendra, Dr Kaushik children’s eye specialist Dr Ashwin C Mallipattna, and Narayana Nethralaya PRO Roopesh Shetty among others were present.
