Kundapur, Jul 7: “Repeated price increases in petrol and diesel by the government when the people are suffering due to COVID-19 and crude oil prices in international markets have dived, is an indication of the monstrous attitude of BJP government at the centre,” said Kundapur block Congress president, Kanmakki Hariprasad Shetty.

He spoke after leading the protests held in front of Kundapur block Congress office on July 7.

“Those who had protested on the streets when the oil prices were raised in the country and crude oil prices in the world had peaked when Manmohan Singh was the prime minister, are in power now. As crude prices have crashed, diesel should have been sold to between Rs 30 to Rs 35. These are pro-people protests. State government has completely failed in controlling COVID-19 and people are economically devastated,” he said.

Congress leader, Malyadi Shivarama Shetty, Shanker Kunder, Vikas Hegde, Ashok Poojary, Ichitharth Shetty, Shamala Bhandary, Kumar Kharvi, Annayya Putran, Chandra Ameeen, Devaki Sannayya, K Shivakumar, Shashiraj, Srinivas Shetty, Vittal Kanchan, Chandrashekar Shetty, Raghavendra, Steven D’Costa, Sridhar Sherigar, Chandrashekar Kharvi, Mohammed Hussain, Raghuram Naik, Roshan Shetty, Shivarama Putran, Dhanaraj, Shashira and Gangadhar Shetty were present. A memorandum was submitted to the president of India through the assistant commissioner later.

Ganesh Sherigar welcomed the gathering. Chandrashekar Kharvi rendered the vote of thanks. Block Congress secretary Vinod Crasta compered the programme.
