Mangaluru: 19 people in Ullal town limits test positive for coronavirus infection

Mangaluru, Jul 7: Coronavirus infection has been confirmed in 19 people altogether in Ullal including in Kotekar, Belma, Deralakatte and Balepuni villages. Meanwhile, four other positive cases were also confirmed in Ullal town limits. Six people out the 19 cases are staff members of a private hospital, while one person is a Deralakatte based hotelier.

The infection cases were found among residents living in a private compound near Ullal junction. Reportedly, the infection spread from the primary contact of an infected person earlier. Infection was also confirmed in a 46-year-old person residing in Ullal CMC.

Among the six staff members of the private hospital who contracted the infection, two are medical students. The staff members of the hospital were infected earlier too. While some were infected by primary contact, the source of the infection was not known in other cases. Meanwhile, the Deralakatte based hotelier is being treated at a COVID hospital.

Infection was found in a 24-year-old girl from Belma, Nithyananda Nagar, a 25-year-old man from Kotekar, Someshwar, a 37-year-old man from Kotekar village, a 24-year-old man from Kuthar Padavu, a 34-year-old man of Deralakatte and a 33-year-old woman who had come from Chikkamagaluru for medical treatment.

A 15-year-old girl from Balepuni, Hoohakuva Kallu in Bantwal and a 50-year-old man were also found to be corona-positive.
