Haveri, Jul 18: From a single family, 32 persons who took part in a marriage function organized at Ranebennur town in the district were confirmed to have contracted coronavirus infection on Friday July 17. The groom's father and bride's mother also lost their lives due to this disease.

A 55-year-old man from Maruti Nagar here had performed his son's marriage on June 29. He suffered from fever the same day, and got admitted into a private hospital at Davanagere. When his throat swab sample was tested, coronavirus infection was confirmed. He passed away at Davanagere on July 7 without responding to treatment.

On July 11, the mother of the bride died due to coronavirus infection. As soon as it was confirmed that the groom's father had infection, throat swab samples of 38 persons from a single family who were in primary contact with him were tested and were quarantined at the students hostel at Ishwar Nagar here. Their test reports were received on Friday, which confirmed that 32 among them were infected.
