Vijayapura: Villagers violate Covid-19 protocol, hold fair amidst self-lockdown

Vijayapura, Jul 19: In an incident that occurred in Kodagi village of Kolar taluk of the district, locals held a procession and conducted a fair without any precautionary measures and in gross violation of Covid-19 rules. 

Hundreds of villagers took part in the Durgadevi and Sevalal festivities which were held on Friday, July 17 at Kodagi village. None of them wore face masks or followed the social distancing norms as per the sources.

Meanwhile, the video of women dancing in the fair has been widely circulated on social media. There was also a feast lunch in the fair which the villagers savoured in groups without adhering to required health guidelines.

It is learnt that the police, who came to know about the incident later visited the village and registered a case against the violators. An investigation in this regard is underway.
