Udupi, Jul 23: The monthly meeting of Udupi district Congress was held in Congress Bhavan on July 22. Sampigehalli Sanjiva Shetty welcomed the gathering.
Udupi district Congress president Ashok Kumar Kodavoor in his introductory address said that the oath-taking of KPCC president D K Shivakumar was held successfully in the district and thanked for the cooperation of all the block presidents, digital youth, Youth Congress, social media, Kisan cell, Rajiv Gandhi panchayat raj organization, women’s Congress, district observers, KPCC observer, Manjunath Bhandary who provided guidance, G A Bava, all the unit office bearers and all the Congress party activists. He requested the successful conduction of Arogya Abhaya Hasta scheme brought about by the Congress party in the district.
Former minister and former Kaup Vidhan Sabha MLA Vinay Kumar Sorake said that Congress party will conduct a survey at taluk level and help coronavirus victims. Protests will be held against the misuse of law and malpractices by the current people representatives of the government and price hikes. Investigations against illegal sand mining will also be urged, he said.
Former Byndoor MLA Gopala Poojary, former MLA U R Sabhapathi and KPCC chief secretary M A Gafoor said that Congress party has a good future and activists need not lose hope.
Block president Pradeep Kumar Shetty Vandse, Madan Kumar Byndoor, Hariprasad Shetty Kundapur, Shanker Kunder Kota, Navinchandra Suvarna Kaup, Shekar Madivala Karkala, Manjunatha Poojary Hebri and Praveen Shetty Kaup north tabled their opinions and obtained clarifications from the president.
Veronica Cornelio, Dr Sunita Shetty, Balakrishna Naik, Louis Lobo, Vijay Hegde C, Mahabala Kunder, Nithyananda Shetty, Navinchandra Shetty, Kushal Shetty Indrali, Neerekrishna Shetty, Vignesh Kini, Murali Shetty and Harish Shetty Pangala tabled their opinions about party unity and Arogya Abhaya Hasta scheme. The president said that as panchayat elections are approaching, they should unite at village level and booth level. "We should be determined to campaign against illegalities and injustices to provide justice to people," he said.
