Udupi: DC orders against public celebration of Naga Panchami in public

Udupi, Jul 23: "Strict action will be taken against persons forwarding messages on social media against the decision of district commissioner's order of celebrating Naga Panchami festival in public spaces," warned district commissioner G Jagadeesha.

The DC had ordered that Naga Panchami festival should not be celebrated in any of the nagabanas publicly. Only priests have been allowed to perform poojas at the nagabanas.

But condemning this decision of the district commissioner there few messages forwarded by a group of people on social media. Regarding this matter, DC has ordered strict action against such people.

The public is allowed to celebrate this festival in the comfort of their homes. However, they will be not permitted to have a public gathering, clarified district commissioner G Jagadeesha.
