Dharwad: Permanent High Court Benches in City, Gulbarga Soon - Moily

Dharwad, Mar 22: Union law and justice minister, M Veerappa Moily, said that permanent benches of the state High Court will begin functioning in the city as well Dharwad, soon. He was speaking after unveiling the statue of the late Dr G M Patil, installed in the premises of KPES Law College premises, on Sunday March 21.

“The process of appointing judges to the permanent benches has already been set into motion. The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court has been requested to take steps to set up permanent benches in Dharwad and Gulbarga. Notification in this respect will be released soon, and the appointment of judges to these benches will also be finalized at the earliest,” Moily enumerated.

The minister also said that the government wants to pave way for quick delivery of justice, by setting up one village court for every two to three villages all over the country, within the next three years. He also revealed that training is being imparted to the judges and lawyers, towards executing the ambitious plan of the government to dispose off long-pending suits within the next three years.

Moily also stated that the central government is seriously contemplating reformation of the law education in the country, so that it becomes a model for other countries to emulate.
