Mangalore: Training in Dairy Animal Management Held at Samanvaya


Mangalore, Aug 28: The two-day training programme on Dairy Animal Management was organized by Dakshina Kannada District Milk Producers’ Union (DKMPU) at the Samanvaya Conference Hall, Urwastores here on Wednesday August 25 and Thursday August 26. 

Dr D S Hegde, manager of DKMPU inaugurated the programme.

Delivering his inaugural address, he called upon the participants to manage the dairy animals by efficiently by growing the grass to produce more milk with less expense.

The director of Samanvaya Dr Ronald Cutinha who presided over the function spoke on the virtue of honesty in the production of clean and abundant milk.

Dr Shwetha and G C Jayaram from Karnataka Milk Federation Training Centre of Mysore, Subbarao extension officer of DKMPU and Dr Nityananda Bhakta deputy manager of DKMPU were present as the resource persons. They spoke on the Amul model, starting new groups or organizations, facilities available to the groups, feeding of calves, various animal diseases and their prevention, immunizing medicines, clean milk production, dairy animal food and dairy animal management among others.


The extension officer of KMF Janet Rosario welcomed and introduced the guests and resource persons and also proposed the vote of thanks. Nalini compered the programme. Deputy manager of DKMPU Dr Sampath was present on the dais. In all 67 members of Neermarga, Idya, Permanki, Kulur, Moodushedde and Haleangady milk producer women’s groups took part in the training.
