Madikeri: Truck from Mangalore Tumbles, Driver Killed

Madikeri, Aug 31: A truck, which was carrying Kingfisher brand beer bottles to Mysore from Mangalore, hit a roadside hillock and fell on its side in the wee hours on Monday August 30. The driver lost control over the vehicle while negotiating a curve near Sinkona Estate on Mangalore-Mysore state highway, hitting a hillock as a result.

The driver, identified as Ismail, a resident of Kadaba near Puttur, was thrown out of the truck due to the impact. As the falling truck came down heavily on him, he was crushed to death. Cleaner of the truck, Sulaiman, escaped with minor injuries.

A large number of crates containing beer bottles were lying scattered on the road for long, and the residents and drivers of other vehicles were seen carrying them for their use. The loss due to the accident is put at around six lac rupees.

    Very sad news. This is a very bad and dangerous stretch between Madkieri and Suntikoppa. This incident occurred even after the road widening process. I feel its the effect of negligent driving

    Any thing "phookat". These people are worse than beggars. To enjoy a bottle of beer in this fashion is a shame to them and their family members.
