Moodbidri, Aug 31: Eight students of Alva's College qualified to compete in the national-level athletics meet, after bagging trophies at the south zone junior athletics meet held at Kanteerava stadium, Bangalore, recently.
The national-level meet will be held at Guntoor in Andhra Pradesh (AP) from Friday September 3 to Sunday September 5.
The winning group of athletes from Alvas College is in AP already and busy practicing for the national meet. Alva's Education Foundation chairman Dr M Mohan Alva congratulated them and conveyed best wishes to the team.
Sushmita Devdas (200 meter race), Rashmi (javelin throw), Namita (shot-put), Chandini (long jump), Manjunath (high jump), Suraj (mandal long-jump), Kenchappa (shot-put), and Kasim (hammer throw), are the ones who have qualified.
