Udupi: Dandateerta School Wins Taluk Girls’ High School Throwball Tourney

Udupi, Sep 1:
The students of Dandateerta School, Kaup, near here, bagged the trophy in the taluk-level throwball tournament for high school girls while Lions English Medium School, Padubidri, were the runners-up.
 
The tournament was held on the playground opposite Ambedkar Bhavan, Padubidri, on Tuesday August 31, in association with Pragati Youth Club and Priyadarshini Women’s Club, Padubidri, here. 



The teams of St Francis School, Mudarangady, and Olakadu Government School, were defeated in the semifinals.
 
Dikshita Shetty, student of Dandateerta School, Kaup, was adjudged all round player and Dhanyashree B Shetty of the same school was the best thrower.  Afreen of Lions English Medium School, Padubidri, bagged the individual prize for best catcher.
 
Kaup MLA Lalaji R Mendon distributed prizes to the winners during the concluding ceremony held here on Tuesday evening.
 
Dakshina Kannada district Godda Samaj Seva Sangh president Govind Matti presided over the programme.
 
Zilla panchayat member Shashikant Padubidri, Padubidri primary health centre medical officer Dr B B Rao, Pragati Youth Club president Dayakar, Priyadarshini women’s club president Vasanti, and referee Gopal Hejamady were present on the dais.
 
Senior teacher Vijay Kumar compered the programme.
