Mangalore: Complaint to SP Against Vittal Policemen

Mangalore, Sep 3: Gopal Nayak, father of Sharat, a student of a school near Vittal, has filed a complaint with the district superintendent of police, alleging that the policemen of Vittal station had confined a few students including his son in a room in the police station on Wednesday September 1, and tortured after denuding them.

Reportedly, students residing near Salettur, Sharat, Sandeep, Pradip and Avinash, were playing in a ground in Salettur. Head constable of Vittal station, Babu Gowda and three constables had been sent to Salettur to investigate a complaint filed by Jayaram Shetty from Kolnad village, about the theft of his mobile phone. The complainant alleges that the four students were summoned to the police station by these policemen, where their clothes were removed and they were beaten up in the guise of interrogating them in connection with the said theft.

Sharat is undergoing treatment at Bantwal government hospital.

    Naxals are born out of police atrocities like this. This class thinks a law unto themselves. Our politicians seldom learn lessons. In the name of democracy which exists only in words, they loot scoot. As usual inquiry is ordered by the SP, the complainant is forced into withdrawing his complaint. Remember the Neermarga case. Public support is non-existent. At the end of the day AAALLL - IZ - WELL.
