Sullia: Chunchashree Award Conferred on Dr Kurunji Venkatramana Gowda

Sullia, Oct 5: On Monday October 4, Dharmapalanatha Swamiji of Mangalore unit of Adichunchanagiri Mutt, conferred ‘Chunchashree Award on Dr Kurunji Venkatramana Gowda, founder president of Academy of Liberal Education here.

A function to confer the award had been organized at the Mutt premises on September 25, but Kurunji could not attend it because of ill health. On Monday, the Swamiji arrived at the home of Dr Gowda to personally confer the award. Gowda is among five distinguished personalities the Mutt had identified for the said award this year. He has been given the award in recognition of his service to education sector.

Gowda is the first from the district to get the award. The Swamiji, while hailing Gowda for catapulting Sullia to global fame, wished that more awards and titles will come seeking him.

Kurunji’s wife, Janaki, Academy general secretary, Dr K V Renukaprasad, secretary, P Venkatramana Gowda, director, Jyoti Renukaprasad, and many others were present on this occasion.
