Bangalore: Swarathma - Folk Stars to Come to Mangalore on Oct 9

Bangalore, Oct 7: Swarathma, the award winning city-based international folk-rock band is all set to perform in Mangalore as part of their South India tour on Saturday October 9. The venue marked for performance is Village Pub.

In an extensive tour covering 7 cities in South India, Indian fusion band are set to perform in the city bringing their brand of high energy folk-rock that has found acclaim all over India and the world. With a view to tour off the beaten track, the band members hailing from Mysore and Mangalore among other places are looking to return to their roots, playing for new audiences, seeking fresh experiences.

Violinist Sanjeev Nayak said, “We often play in the Mumbai and New Delhi of the world, but getting a chance to perform for our home audience is a special occasion for us.”

The band recently won the JD Indian Rock Award for Best Band, Best Song and Best Album of the Year 2009 and released their debut music video featuring Shubha Mudgal in June 2010. They were the first Indian band to release an iPhone application, allowing rich interactivity to their fans. They have supported
their two albums with two tours of the UK and performances in Hong Kong, Singapore and Morocco. Swarathma are ushering in a new era for Indian musicians looking to make a mark abroad.

The tour is supported by Kingfisher’s The Great Indian Octoberfest.
