Mangalore, Oct 15: In the backdrop of the instructions issued recently by the Supreme Court to evict or regularize the centers of worship standing in public property, Hindu Janajagruthi Samithi has decided to protest the unilateral justice through a procession from Sharavu Ganapathy Temple on Monday Oct 18 at 10.30 am.

Later the procession will proceed to DC’s office and a memorandum will be submitted to the DC addressing the Chief Minister to take favorable actions.

Addressing the presspersons, Ram Bhat, district convener of HJS informed that several temples standing from centuries ago including Iroli Somanatheshwara, Bajilkeri Mukyaprana, Maroli Sooryanarayana and many more temples in the coastal districts are among the recipients of this notice.

He added that several churches, mosques and Jain Basadis also have been listed as illegal, although the numbers of such identified religious centers are much smaller, as compared to the temples that have been deemed as illegal.

More than 5,000 devotees are expected to take part in the procession on Monday. Ramesh Nayak of Hindu Janajagruthi Samithi among others was present at the press meet.
