Mangalore, Oct 17: The Dasara festival which will be celebrated on a grand scale with all magnificent attractions on Sunday at 4 pm was inaugurated by Janardhan Poojary through handing over the yellow flag to H S Sairam on Saturday night.
The yellow flag denotes ideals of Brahmashree Narayana Guru and universal brotherhood. Rashtriya Billava Mahamandali president Jaya C Suvarna, Vishwakarma Mahasabha state president K P Nanjundi and MLA U T Khadar among others were present.
A gold jewel worth Rs. 3.5 lakhs was offered to goddess Shree Sharada Maatha by Shree Kshethra Sevadal.
Raghavendra Kulur, vice-president of the temple committee, Padmaraj, treasurer and Ravishankar, trustee among others were present.
Harikrishna Bantwal welcomed the gathering.
