Bantwal: Metric Mela Inspires Students to Explore Entrepreneurial Skills

Bantwal, Nov 4: Wow, what smart kids with bubbling enthusiasm. The programme created great excitement with amazement whether the school children could do such marvellous deeds.

The school children at Hayatul Islam Aided Higher Primary School, Goodinabali, near Panemangalore here set up a mini-shopping complex with stalls selling vegetables, groceries, cafeteria, stationery and book shop among others to replicate a mock market that also proved their creativity and keen observance in real life. This was the scene at the Metric Mela, a mock market set up by children here that created much interest to the viewers including the children themselves.

The Metric Mela was inclusive of a post office, stationery shop, fancy shop and sundry shops which were set up by the students of 13 schools that come under the Bantwal Mooda group resources centre. The students switched over the roles of owners, staff and customers. 

The Metric Mela inspired the entrepreneurial skills of school children with the collection of books and display. Vidyavilasa Aided Higher Primary School, Polali bagged the first place, while Hayatul Islam Aided Higher Primary School, Goodinabali, here bagged the second place in Metric Mela.

The students also exhibited their extraordinary skills in preparing teaching aids that were imaginative and creative to their age and showcase their keen grasping power. Hayatul Islam Aided Higher Primary School, Goodinabali bagged the first place, while Vidyavilasa Aided Higher Primary School, Polali bagged the second place in preparing teaching aids.

 The seminars and workshop on curricula that was held on the occasion inspired the mental faculties and moral values of schoolchildren.

Block education officer Sudhakar K, co-ordinating officers Ashok Kumar and Srishanth, school correspondent G K Mohammed, headmaster B Ramachandra Rao and other teachers participated in the programme and encouraged the school children to explore their creative and entrepreneurial skills.
