Mangalore: Examination Malpractices - University Nullifies Results of 38 Students

Mangalore, Nov 5: Mangalore University has nullified the degree examination results of 38 students, after finding through an investigation that allegations of examination irregularities slapped against them were proved. The examination in question was held during May this year.

12 BA degree students, four students each belonging to BSc, BCom and distance education, ten BBM, two BCA and a student each from BSW and LLB degree courses have been found to be guilty of indulging in examination malpractices. Out of the above, 29 students have been allowed to take the examination again in May 2011. The other nine students have been barred from appearing from next year’s examination. These decisions were taken at the syndicate meeting of the university held on Thursday November 4.

The syndicate meeting also decided to downwardly revise the fee structure under different heads for autonomous colleges having single faculty. Other than the application fee for autonomous status, fee in all other heads will be cut by half. Immediate beneficiary of this move is St Ann’s College of Education in the city. The meeting also approved to approve the post graduate social work section of the School of Social Work, an autonomous college from the city, as a research centre for the PhD research of the university.
