Sullia: Fire Meant to Drive Away Chill Claims Life

Sullia, Jan 25: A teenager, who had started a small fire to get rid of chill, was consumed by the flames. The incident occurred at Kayartadka in Murulya village near here on Monday January 24.

The victim has been identified as Vasanti (16), daughter of Mayilappa from Kayartadka.

The girl had pooled together waste materials scattered in her courtyard, to start a fire. She was standing near the fire, to drive away cold. All of a sudden, the flames of the fire leapt and her clothes caught fire. Vasanti raised an alarm, but by the time the family members came to her rescue, she had suffered serious burns. She was taken to a hospital but treatments could not save her life.
