Beltangady, Jan 26: "Values should be developed from childhood days. Then we get great opportunity to serve the nation. Constitutional rights should be utilized," said Sacred Heart College principal N M Joseph.

He was speaking on the Republic day celebration held at the taluk ground on Wednesday January 26.

Tahashildar M K Pramila hoisted the flag and spoke on the occasion. She said that unity in diversity is our culture. Though different caste, religion, language prevail in our nation, our constitution has congregated everyone under one rule and we have achieved unity, she added.Town municipal president Muguli Narayana Rao presided over the programme.

Town municipal vice-president Baby, taluk panchayath CEO Narendra, taluk health officer Dr Ravindranath and taluk social welfare officer S B Rajshekar were present. Students, NCC, bharath seva dal, homeguard team and police marched when the school band was played. Students staged cultural progrmme after the formal function.

Kamalaksha Achar welcomed the gathering. Regional education officer K K Puttaswamy delivered vote of thanks.
