Byndoor, Mar 29: Speaking at Byndoor, prominent RSS and Hindu leader, Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat, expressed the opinion that continuing to offer puja, 'Salaam Mangalarati' to Goddess Mookambika temple in Kollur in the name of a person who had derided Hindu gods, inflicted injustice on the society and had tried his best to destroy the society is an insult to the gods. He felt that such a practice should be ended at the earliest.
He felt that this blunder was unknowingly committed and continued. If we do not end such unwarranted systems and traditions, a time might come in which a puja might be prescribed in Kollur temple, duly naming it after Allahu Salam.
Bhat said that the temples should reflect our traditions and practices and the children should be able to develop a sense of affinity towards the temples. "There is nothing wrong if puja or other things are performed in a way that they project our culture and traditions. We should have things which reinforce our ideals, not the things like this," he expressed the opinion.
Bhat said that the fact that Hindus have shown generosity in everything is not properly understood and assimilated by other people. "The rule that Muslims cannot have shops during annual fairs within a hundred metres of the temples was passed in 2002 when S M Krishna led the Congress government was ruling the state. They must have passed the rule as they knew that they would commit wrongs. Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar did not know about these wrongs but S M Krishna knew and that is why he passed the rule. We are not moving them out of these fairs. We are here just to react as action comes from the other side. We are telling them to stay away because of the injustice done in the past. They should not have anything to do with us nor should they come to Hindu temples. They can do whatever they want to in their mosques and we are not going to object. They can sell flowers or anything else there. I wish that this system will prevail permanently," he stated.
