Mangalore: St Sebastian Church Prepares for Dual Celebration of Parish Priest

Mangalore, Jan 28: The parishioners of St Sebastian Church are set to celebrate the 75th birthday and 50 years of sacerdotal life of their beloved parish priest Fr Peter S Noronha, with a concelebrated Eucharist at St Sebastian Church, Bendur, here on Monday January 31.

Bendur parish was established in 1914 and would complete a century in 2014. The celebration also aims at strengthening the unity amongst the parishioners as one large family, besides beginning the groundwork for the centenary celebration, scheduled to be held in another three years. The celebration will also launch an education fund for the benefit of deserving and needy youth of the parish in pursuing higher education. The fund will function as a registered Trust, to be managed exclusively by eminent lay persons of the parish.

Bishop Aloysius Paul D’Souza will preside over the felicitation and cultural programme.

About six bishops from different parts of India, 150 priests from all over the state and 5,000 people are expected to take part in the event.
