Kundapur, Feb 2: In a rare phenomenon, three officials working in three different departments which come under revenue service at Kundapur, have military background. Their discipline at work is lauded by the public. They have given a speedy touch to the administration system in the office.

Assistant commissioner B Sadashiva Prabhu, Kundapur taluk panchayath in-charge officer V S Hegde, Kundapur and Tahashildar H S Aruna Prabha worked in air force. Sadashiva Prabhu of Ellare in Karkala taluk worked in air force from 1982 - 2002. He fought valiantly during Kargil war for two months. He served in technical department of air force. He turned to serve the people in 2002 and joined the police department. During his tenure in police department, he pursued his BA LLB and passed KAS exam and is employed now in revenue department. He worked in Bijapur during 2008 and worked as assistant officer at land tribunal department in Mangalore in 2009. He joined as assistant commissioner in June 2010.

Though he is a senior officer, he is well known for his simplicity. The visitors to the AC’s office are convinced by his approach and visit his office with all hopes without any fear, unlike other government offices.

B Sadashiva Prabhu

V S Hegde, in-charge officer of Kundapur taluk panchayath is from Sirsi in Uttar Kannada district. Hailing from an agricultural family background, he served as an electrical engineer in Indian air force from 1977 - 1992. He had taken a leading role in manufacturing combat aircraft like MiG and Miraj. After his retirement from air force, he passed KPSC exam and joined as an officer in industrial department in Bidar where he worked for eight years. He then moved on to work in Hassan and Siddapur. He joined as in-charge officer at Kundapur taluk panchayath in December 2010 and has added dynamism to operations at taluk panchayath office. He says human approach needs to be considered in the present days of administration at all government offices.

Likewise, another air force officer who turned administrator is Kundapur tahashildar Arunprabha. He brought esteem to one of the predominant posts in revenue department, i.e tahashildar’s post. He has been contributing his best to the department which used to be known for slow pace of work before. He hails from Udupi.

He served as an officer in Indian air force from 1980 - 2000. After his retirement from air force he passed in KAS exam in 2006. He worked as tahashildar of Kundapur in 2006 for a period of 11 months and later was transferred to Sullia, Chennapattana and Chitradurga. Again on Dec 10, 2010 he started his second stint as tahashilar in Kundapur.

People say that works at government offices in Kundapur has taken a momentum after the administration went to the hands of these three former military personnel. Frustrated by the present days of corruption, miss-management among others discrepancies which have clutched government offices, these officers are turning people to be optimists.

In our childhood we saw and experienced how our grand parents and parents give respect and receive respect from everyone from everywhere from police to government employees, religious leaders to common man from neighbours to relatives and family members, but alas now in modern days society filled with corruption in every corner of the country. People are become greedy and self-centered, here is a ray of hope and example to many to not to sell their honesty for money and material. Wish you All the best and pray for your good health.

In the 90's ther was a similar situation in undivided Dakshina Kannada (DK) where we had DC Bharat Lal Meena, Exi DC Guru Shanthppa and Telcom D.Rama who had glory to DK but eventually what they have bought a glory has gone to drains, coz the politicians dont want this and they have been transfered to differentt areas where they have been doing their job but it is incomplete wherever the go

God blesses individuals with honest heart and mind to serve others, while greedy politicians are just busy looting the public wealth and property. Its a pity, these politicians have thousands to support and rally after them. Not for long, anyway.
