In an accident that occurred at the bypass road near Ganada Padpu near B C Road, a lecturer in Canara Engineering College, Benjanapadavu near here, named Guruprasad (28) of Navoora died on the spot, after a lorry loaded with iron rods hit his Honda Aviator two-wheeler from the opposite direction. The accident occurred at 8.30 am today.

Guruprasad was moving from Navoora towards B C Road, when tragedy struck. Pillion rider, Naveen, also suffered severe injuries in the accident, and he has been admitted into Father Muller Hospital in Mangalore. Naveen happens to be the nephew of the deceased.

Yes another accident due to the reckless drivers. The licences are issed without proper exam, assessment, not enough prompt traffic police to catch those avoid who bypass traffic rules. Let the government make a law any one involve in any accident loses his lincen for a year. Anyone dies looses licence for life. Let others get a chance. Anyone avoiding the traffic rules fined big fine of atleast Rs 5000. Government please make assessment and put road divider mark. No one knows how far onc side ends. Each once thinks whole road belong to his. Govt please put speed barrier to the places where accidents are prone. The governemtns are busy making their fortune while in power, and struggling to hold their seat. People are driver to vote by the name of caste and religion. We got to any offices for any kind of work ask for bribe. Is there any day we are awakened despite of Indepenence for 60 years? Take the example of Egypt, Tunisia and learn from their determination.

A stunning person, a cool lecturer, and moreover, a great friend... Thats what Guru sir was for all his students. Specially me...This news came as a shock to everyone, so unexpected and tragic... You left us before we even realized it. It may be god's way, but its too hard to digest.... Especially when i hear your voice echoing in my ears and i see your face flashing in front of my eyes... It was a very short span of time we got to spend together, but the vacuum created by your departure is a huge one... We will miss you dearly...May your soul rest in peace dear sir......

It really upsets me ,so many young talented youths are dying in the name of so called road accidents. There should be certain timings d for the heavy vehicles. This is a serious issue.Govt should consider it.Precautionary steps need to be taken.

Kavita (Bangalore - India) Whether it is the lorry hitting the byke or byke hitting the lorry, the understanding sense makes it clear that the byke rider has more chances of avoiding an accident than the loaded lorry with steel rods. Kavita has to see the spot on the screen, where the byke is hit, appoximately at the centre of the road. Just imagine if the byke rider has a little more space towards his side to move, and the lorry speeding or the byke speeding, byke rider has more chances of escape than the lorry driver. That's all.

I  happened to be from the same place from where comes the young Guruprasad, lone son with two other siblings. Again a young life has been lost. But whom to blame? Is it the problem of drivers and of reckless driving? What about our roads? Do our authorities make any attempt to widen and straighten the roads? Do our drivers follow the road regulations? Why don’t our authorities take strict measures to curb the accidents and take away the driving license from the erred persons?

How many more accidents/lives should happen/be lost before the govt. takes necessary measures to curb speeding? The state govt. should take speedy measures for the widening of roads instead of filling up its coffers. I hope the people of Mangalore wake up and take to the streets after each such accident to awaken the authorities.

Hope god gives peace to Guruprasad's soul and may his family get the strength to bear this loss.

Inspite of so many accidents, still the public, govt. department is sleeping. Are we still not bothered when our neighbours has been affected or waiting revolution like Tunisia by overthrowing all the unscrupulous characters.

While looking at the photograph of the lorry loaded with iron rods, the rods have been loaded without safety norms. Even the rods are bigger in size than the trailer body which is really offence. Is this we call development ? Our system is completely redundant and incapable with no desire for preventing disaster.

Unfortunately young Enggr. lecturer life has been lost.

Heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved members of the family. May his soul rest in peace.
