Mumbai Indians missing the Pandya brothers, bowlers like Boult

April 30, 2022 (PR):

This has not been so much of a pleasant experience for Mumbai Indians in TATA IPL 2022. With 8 out of 8 defeats the team stands at the bottom of the points table. The fans are yet again left waiting for the first win from the Rohit gang this season.

It is no wonder Mumbai Indians are currently struggling to find their rhythm in this T20 league. Having several massive changes made in the team this year the captain and coaches are trying hard to find their ideal top playing eleven.

If you look at the team closely you will see they are experimenting with what they have in their hands. While the team has outstanding players like Suryakumar Yadav, Basil Thampi, Ishan Kishan, Kieron Pollard, and Rohit Sharma the franchise released performers like both Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Trent Boult, Quinton de Kock, and Piyush Chawla the absence of the release parties is very apparent on the team. It looks like Mumbai Indians lost the league as soon as the auction happened.

Kevin Peterson said to the media after the IPL auction "Lots of the star players that made them what they are have left and they have made a horrible start to the competition".

While Mumbai appears to be enduring the consequences of its actions Hardik Pandya is directing Gujarat Titans is leading the IPL points table with 12 points and 6 out of 7 wins.

With an average of 73.75 Pandya has scored 295 runs in 6 matches and is presently in third place for the Orange Cap holder chart of 2022. Not just batting, even during bowling and fielding Hardik has proven himself to be quite crucial for his team. Though playing for Lucknow Krunal Pandya is not having his most productive season of IPL it is no doubt that having both Krunal and Hardik would have given Mumbai Indians two strong options for all-rounders.

“I think he’s their biggest loss, ahead of Quinton de Kock and the Pandya brothers. Mumbai seem to have had their soul ripped out at the mega auction. Lots of the star players that made them what they are have left and they have made a horrible start to the competition,” Pietersen said during an interview to Betway.

Playing for Rajasthan Royals this year, Trent Boult is another bowling attack Mumbai should have maintained. This New Zealand bowler has taken seven wickets so far with an economy rate of 8.79 in TATA IPL.

After analyzing this devastating season of Mumbai Indians many blame it on the team's poor bowling gear. Apart from Bumrah himself, the bowling team is lagging. In previous seasons Trent Boult has been a nice support system along with Jasprit's pace bowling and they together picked key wickets which is exactly what Mumbai is missing this 2022 IPL.
