Mangalore, Feb 14:
The Kingfish boat, owned by Mumtaj, which went for deep sea fishing from old Mangalore Port, collided with a foreign ship at night recently and left the crew stranded at sea.

The five crew members were rescued by other boats early in the morning but a person, named Palani Swami, has been reported missing. He is a resident of Selam, Tamil Nadu. His wife Echalavadi (28), along with three children Ranjith (8), Dviya (5) and Rajesh (3) and his father Sate have come all the way to Mangalore to search for his body.

The owner of Kingfish Mumtaj, has been trying to search for the missing Palani but have met with no success. Meanwhile the police from Mangalore and Kasargod are in dilemma as to which constituent should take up the responsibility of finding the missing Palani. He was reported missing close to the boarder of Mangalore and Kasargod coast.

The wrecked boat was pulled ashore by barges. Varghese, the Kingfish rider narrated the entire event.

According to your news this Palani Swami is from Salem, so I would suggest that TN police should take up the responsibility of finding the missing Palani.

Come-on somebody go and search this missing person and think about the juridiction afterwards. The humanity must come first and then duty in the case like this. sometimes it makes me wonder if we live in the same country? why such a difficulty to take decision on juridiction in a situation like this??? we have been sharing borders with states for last 50yrs and what is so new about it? We have really lost respect for a human soul.. all it count is how much bank balance a victim or his family has.

Indeed sometimes such incideents can be eye openers. It is a sad plight to observe these migrant workers living in dire straits and merely existing with their families and small children around the Old Mangalore Port / Bundar. The matter must be taken up and relief given to these hapless workers who have no other means.
