Kundapur, Aug 25: “A package of Rs 1,531 crore has been approved for Byndoor. Work is in progress at many places. In all, Rs 41,68,200 have been paid as compensation for natural calamities. A list of 250 foot bridges has been prepared and Rs 10 crores raised through PWD, Rs 5 crore is approved for footbridges, Rs 20 crore to construct 172 foot bridges. A request is submitted for it,” said Shivamogga MP B Y Raghavendra speaking in a news conference at Kollur.

“Compensation at the rate of Rs 95,100 each has beenvpaid to 12 beneficiaries whose houses are completely damaged. Another eight beneficiaries are paid at the rate of Rs 95,100 for repairs of houses. As many as 43 beneficiaries whose houses are partly damaged have been compensated at the rate of Rs 5,200. The family of the victim who was washed away from foot bridge was paid Rs 5 lacs, Rs 9,600 for the completely damaged boats. Owners of partly damaged 54 boats have been paid at the rate of Rs 4,100 each, Rs 2,600 each to 66 owners of damaged fishing nets.

As many as 92 beneficiaries whose household belongings were damaged in rain water that flooded their houses were paid Rs 10,000 each, 14 owners of cattle who suffered lossespaid a total of Rs 2,20,000. The cases of 349 farmers whose produce was damaged are being entered in the computer. The compensation will be credited to their accounts soon,” he said.

“A total of Rs 596 crore is approved to provide drinking water in Byndoor. A tender is prepared to supply drinking water to 848 houses and the groundbreaking will be held soon. A sum of Rs 85 crore are approved for second stage is approved for the construction of Maravanthe out port. A tender for road works costing Rs 218 crore for Byndoor – Ranebennur NH766 C stretch is prepared,” he said.

“Other works that will be taken up and some which are completed are Sauda – Shankernarayana bridge, Hallihole – Kabbinale bridge, Gangolli coastal berth, international level seaplane, marina, multipurpose port, Siddapur drip irrigation project, Saukur irrigation project, Subba Radi Kindi dam, Siddapur market circle, new Taluk administration office building,” he added.

“An industrial town at Byndoor, Kollur–Kodachadri cable car project, under passes at five junctions, basic facilities at 87 crematoriums and veterinary polyclinic are in the pipline. BSNL is conducting a survey to solve internet network problems,” he said.
