Madhya Pradesh, Jan 9: Roman Saini, a former doctor and IAS officer, has played a pivotal role in propelling Unacademy, one of India's leading ed-tech companies, into a formidable Rs 26,000 crore entity. While the company was initially founded by engineer-turned-businessman Gaurav Munjal, it was Roman's dedicated efforts that contributed significantly to its success.

Regarded as one of India's brilliant academic minds, Roman achieved a milestone at the age of 16 by cracking the AIIMS examination. Subsequently, at the age of 22, he successfully cleared the UPSC and assumed the role of District Collector in Madhya Pradesh.

Despite his IAS success, Roman harboured a different dream – that of venturing into business. Collaborating with Gaurav Munjal and Hemesh Singh, he co-founded Unacademy under the umbrella of Sorting Hat Technologies, the parent company.

Unacademy has emerged as a revolutionary platform, providing coaching to numerous IAS aspirants via YouTube. The platform offers a cost-effective alternative to traditional coaching classes, enabling students to prepare for UPSC with minimal financial investment.

In 2022, Roman Saini received a salary of Rs 88 lakh, Gaurav Munjal, the CEO of Unacademy, drew a salary of Rs 1.58 crore, and Hemesh Singh earned Rs 1.19 crore. The impressive financial figures reflect the substantial success and growth of Unacademy under their leadership.
