Mangalore: Rising Stars Vijeta D'Sa and Reshma Rodrigues Felicitated

Mangalore Aug 9: The Catholic Board of Education, in collaboration with the Catholic Lawyers' Guild, organized a felicitation programme on Friday August 8 at Shanthi Kiran, Bajjodi in the city. 'The rising stars' in the field of delivering justice, Vijetha Pinky D'Sa and Reshma Jane Rodrigues, the newly-appointed Civil Judges and the pride of the Diocese of Mangalore, were feted at the function.
The dignitaries of the day were Bishop Aloysius Paul D'Souza of Mangalore diocese and the president of the Catholic Board of Education, Fr Wilson V D'Souza, secretary of the Catholic Board of Education, M P Noronha, president of the Catholic Lawyers' Guild, Ivan D'Souza, executive member, Stany D'Costa, vice-president, Roshan D'Souza, member of the Catholic Lawyers' Guild, Fr Henry Sequeira, spiritual director of the Guild, Fr J B Crasta, secretary of Laity Commission and Grace D'Silva, secretary of the Guild.
M P Noronha, leading lawyer from the city welcomed the gathering. As a mark of reverence, they were honoured with flowers.
Well-known lawyer and vice-president of DCC Ivan D'Souza, speaking on the occasion stressed on the importance of human rights, which is a fundamental right of Indian citizens. Any citizen deprived of the same could appeal to the Human Rights Commission for justice, he informed.
Stany D'Costa highlighted on the laws concerning right to information.
Roshan D'Souza advocated the benefits in the form of scholarships that are made available to the students of minority communities.
"Success is never an accident but the result of hard work," said Grace D'Silva and Sr Kala, in their introductory note about newly-appointed judges Vijetha Pinky D'Sa and Reshma Jane Rodriugues.
Bishop Aloysius Paul D'Souza of Mangalore felicitated the newly-appointed judges Vijetha and Reshma. He declared that the achievement of these young and dynamic persons has brought great joy for the Catholic community as a whole.
He instructed the principals and heads of various institutions to inspire and motivate the students to achieve heights of success in this competitive world.
The programme concluded with a prayer.
