Mangalore: Autorickshaw Catches Fire near Kannur - Three Burnt Alive

Mangalore, Jan 22: In a tragic incident, three inmates of an autorickshaw were burnt to death after the rickshaw in which they were seated caught fire at around 2 pm on Thursday January 22. The vehicle too was reduced to ashes in the tragedy.
The autorickshaw in question was parked behind the house of Sheriff at Adyar-Kannur Borugudde in the outskirts of the city. Three persons, Fauzia (23), daughter of Abdulla, Sheeba (3), daughter of Riyaz and Marisha (6), daughter of Abdul Khader, all living in the neighbourhood, were sitting inside the rickshaw when suddenly flames engulfed and burnt down the rickshaw.
While two of them died on the spot, a child died after being shifted to a hospital. Cause for the sudden eruption of huge fire is not yet known.
The family members of Fauzia were not at home when the accident occurred, as they were away attending a marriage function. No one was nearby when the accident occured. A neighbourer noticed the fire only after huge flames rose up in the air as the rickshaw was behind a house and immdiately rushed to the spot. He tried to douse the fire by pouring water over it. However, it was too late.
Kankanady police are investigating.
